Efficient or effective? I've never known the difference between these two words until tonight. It made me curious since I always mixed them two without knowing their meanings. Finally tonight I found the difference when I was studying organization and management of industrial organization subject. Apparently, it's very simple.
effective : doing the right thing
efficient : doing things right
In an organization, the purpose of management is achieving low resource waste (high efficiency) and high goal attainment (high effectiveness). It makes sense since when you do things right (be efficient), you'll get benefit from most of the resources and won't produce a lot of waste. When you do the right things (be effective), you can achieve more goals.
Let's be EE*!
